Savings & Loans is a major supporter and Gold Partner of the Women's and Children's Hospital.
Our partnership with the Women’s and Children’s Hospital commenced in 1999 with the aim of raising $1 million towards the refurbishment of the hospital’s emergency department. This goal was quickly exceeded and the target was raised to $2.5 million.
The money was raised thanks to our Women’s and Children’s Hospital Visa Card, which saw a percentage of each purchase made with the card donated to the hospital, at no cost to our members.
In May 2006, the Savings & Loans Emergency Department was officially opened. The department now offers state of the art facilities to the 40,000 families that use the hospital every year.
Our work at the hospital continues
Since the launch of the Savings & Loans Emergency Department, we’ve continued to support the hospital in many ways, including the donation of a $25,000 Christmas stocking every year.
In 2008, the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Visa Card was replaced with the
Savings & Loans Care Card, which will support our community programs well into the future.
